Jail houses are local area facilities overseen by a county, city, or other community authorities in New York. They are temporary holding centers. As such, they commonly hold those who have recently been arrested, along with people awaiting sentencing or trial. On top of that, any individual sentenced to serve a short sentence ( in most cases, less than twelve months) can serve out their sentence in a regional jail. To locate an individual in the county jail, you can contact the local area Sheriff’s Department responsible for operating the jail. If the city is responsible for the jail, you will need to contact that city’s police agency instead.
